- Bolano wins National Book for 2666:
"The esteemed American award was given to Bolaņo for his epic final novel 2666, which NBCC board member Marcela Valdes described as a "sexy, apocalyptic vision of history", a "work so rich and dazzling that it will surely draw readers and scholars for ages""
- Alan Moore profile. He says DC tried to sneak some Watchmen memorabilia into the market without his consent. Funnily, he acknowledges that his reclusiveness gives him some cachet.
- Twitter book that collects, I guess, interesting tweets. Some of the celebrities I'm following include Shaq, James Franco, and Rhianna.
- Bird vs Magic in the NCAA. I've never been too into March Madness. Part of the reason I like the NBA is the personalities and the NCAA doesn't really have those with all the straight from high school to pros guys. But, if I was old enough to watch the best black player vs. the best white player in the world go at it in a single elimination game...
- Applying Malcolm Gladwell to the NBA so I guess Magic and Bird are Outliers? I haven't read the book.
-Man Booker nominees. Go Alice!
Thanks Max. I am always on the lookout for new sports related books (mainly basketball) to read. I will definitely be picking this one up. I hope it measures up to one of my favorite books in this category (Black Planet by David Shields). It's a must read if you are into sports books.
That new Alan Moore book Lost Girls looks good. I think that "recluse" label is a bit of a misnomer. Just because he doesn't whore himself out doesn't make him a hermit. He's weird, but in a cool, arty way.
