Quincy Jones on MJ's Blackness

By Max Arambulo Jul. 3, 2009 9:37 am

I don't know how Details magazine got such a candid interview from Quincy Jones. It's awesome because Quincy, who produced Thriller, knew MJ more than a lot of people and this is as honest an assessment of the King of Pop that I've so far read:

Q: But it must've been so disturbing to see Michael's face turn into what it turned into.
A: It's ridiculous, man! Chemical peels and all of it. And I don't understand it. But he obviously didn't want to be black.

Q: Is that what it was?
A: Well, what do you think? You see his kids?

Q: Did you ever discuss it? Did you ever ask, "Michael, don't you want to be a black man?"
A: No, no, no, please. That's not the way you do it.

Q: But he was beautiful before?
A: Man, he was the most gorgeous guy.

Quincy doesn't hold back, does he?

I'd have to agree with him on the skin-lighting thing. I just don't buy that it was all due to a skin disease. I didn't know the man obviously, but considering all the surgeries to his face, nose in particular, it's not beyond believability that he deliberately bleached his skin or something to that effect. Unfortunate too.

Quincy has a lot of nerve talking about the color of Michael's kids when they are the same complexion as his own. When was the last time you ever saw Quincy Jones with a woman of his own race?

Well you obviously have never seen anyone with Vitilago!

I suggest you Google it and then tell me how many records he would have sold looking like that!!?
