Rejoice vinyl junkies, today is World Vinyl Day. The origins of world Vinyl Day are shrouded in a heavily annotated gate-fold sleeve of mystery, but I think it went something like this. Meeting at the back of a second hand record store in Baltimore, six vinyl enthusiasts, bound by the love of black vinyl discs and an even stronger mutual disdain for each other's favorite music, vowed that no strands of brown tape, no silvery table coasters and no - whatever digital music is held on - would replace the LP. Slowly, others joined these devotees from Baltimore, shirking technological innovation along with smart-casual wear and personal hygiene to preserve this most noble of formats - preferably at home and alone.
