Since Sugar Shane got dominated, I've been searching for a badass video to put on regular loop. This is up there. You've got Muhammad Ali opening it up with a pretty convincing argument ("That man was beautiful")and then you got Sugar Ray Robinson throwing left hooks to James Brown's Paid the Cost to Be the Boss. Oh, did I say throwing? Nah, dude's detonating. Knocking guys out with 6-inch punches.
I'm glad there's this much video evidence of SRR because it really helps the argument that he's the best of all time. This stuff's on par with Roy and Tyson highlights. People would hold his era against him, you know, tons more training techniques and new diets. I think that's all well and good in other pro sports where guys basically max out in size and strength. Boxing's got weight classes, though, and everyone back then and now has got to make weight. Plus, now like then, there are hooks, jabs, uppercuts. Punches and footwork and technique hasn't changed, angles haven't gotten shorter. Fuck it, check this video and see for yourself.
