Epic Violations in Guy Code, English Soccer Edition

For those of you who don't know, English football (soccer) has been undergoing their own Tiger Woods-esque sex scandal.

A few months ago, John Terry, happily married father of two, player for top team CHELSEA, and captain of the England squad heading into the 2010 World Cup, was revealed to have be in the midst of a four month affair. What's the big deal you ask..? Pro athletes cheat all the time...

Well, Terry wasn't hooking up with some random groupie, but the partner (and baby mama, as the kids say on the street) of his former teammate, and good friend Wayne Bridge, pictured below.

Having an affair with your friend/teammate's girlfriend is not only an epic fail in the guy code department, but of course a source of major drama for the World Cup squad heading into 2010 (while Bridge left Chelsea for Manchester City, he and Terry were still teammates on the England squad, although it was unlikely Bridge would ever get called up to play).

So, a few weeks ago Team England coach Fabio Capello decided to strip Terry of the England captaincy, handing it over to the corpse of former great defender Rio Ferdinand. The idea was to minimize distraction, and of course show that such behaviour would be unacceptable to the rest of the team...

All well and dandy, until a few weeks ago when defender, and projected starter for Team England, Ashley Cole, went down with an ankle injury... England, already light on defenders (did I mention that Rio Ferdinand might be dead for all we know?) had to turn to none other than... wait for it... wait for it... Wayne Bridge!

(Bridge and Terry, in happier times)

But rather than play side-by-side with Terry (and when I say side-by-side, they would be literally side-by-side since they're both defenders) Bridge outright declined the invitation to play for England completely. Whoa.

Which brings us to this morning, when Terry's Chelsea squad played Bridge's Manchester City for the first time since the scandal broke a few months ago. How would the two players react to one another?

And of course the big question on everyone's mind... would they shake hands before the game?

See for yourself.
