I've always been a little disappointed by the dearth of Vietnamese-Americans/Canadians in North American politics. Even more dismaying is that the ones who do throw their hat into the ring tend to be of the conservative persuasion.
So it was with very pleasant suprise that I found out that the one Repubilcan who voted in favour of President Obama's sweeping health care reforms was Joseph Cao, a Vietnamese Congressman from Louisiana. Granted, Congressman Cao refused to vote in favour of the bill until some pro-choice language was removed, but you take what you can get...
Here is being interviewed by a CNN anchor (and a fellow Vietnamese born American)...
Even though we may disagree on most issues Mr. Cao, today I salute you and your brave stance.
That Betty Nguyen's a fox.
