So it's 4 AM, you've just got back from the club, you may or may not be alone and trying to stay awake- so what do you throw on the stereo? Why, some Justin Bieber... slowed down 800%.
Someone figured out how to turn his “U Smile”—a tune that normally only contributes to those feelings of rage—into a soothing, ambient, 35-minute epic by borrowing a trick from Hans Zimmer and slowing it down 800 percent. Suddenly the otherwise innocuous piano ballad becomes a soaring, Sigur Rós-meets-Brian Eno-meets-Vangelis bliss-out.
I'm a big Sigur Ros fan... and you know what? It is pretty Sigur Rosy. Really, it's as good as any ambient trance track you're going to find on the newest Cafe Del Mar cd, so kick back and get whisked away.
On a somewhat unrelated note, check out my favourite (of seemingly millions) of covers of the Bieber hit 'Baby', by my newest crush Kina Grannis.
