Slow News Day Part II: Let's laugh at their pain

Laurence Fishburne disowns porn star daughter

Chris blogged earlier this month about actor Laurence Fishburne’s daughter Montana's decision to enter the porn industry. Well, looks like papa don’t take no mess. According to Digital Journal, the CSI star isn’t speaking to his daughter “until she turns her life around.” Morpheous is apparently “embarrassed” that Montana (aka Chippy D) chose the porn pill, and offered Vivid Entertainment $1 million to halt the release of the dvds. He was too late.

I have to sympathize with Mr. Fishburne here. If it were my kid, I might react the same way. This isn’t some sex tape sold by a punk ex-boyfriend, but an actual concerted effort to enter the porn industry as a launching pad to further her acting career, retarded as it sounds. Apparently she isn’t aware of the dozens of kids who’ve launched acting careers with the help of their famous parents (Kate Hudson, Colin Hanks, Zoe Kravitz, and Bridget Fonda to name a few).

Erykah Badu fined over nude video shoot

Badu’s nude video shoot in Dallas, Texas will cost her $500 and six months probation for disorderly conduct, the CBC is reporting. Badu shot the video on the same stretch of road where President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. She was charged when a witness filed a complaint with police, saying she dressed down in full view of witnesses, including children.

Look, I like artists to push buttons and provoke controversy, but sometimes they push that “artistic expression” shit a bit too far. What if someone shot a porno in the motel room MLK was assassinated in?

Rob Ford says some more dubious shit

And the capper of the week is Rob Ford’s comments that Toronto can’t handle any more immi-gants. At a televised debate Aug. 17, Ford went all Lou Dobbs in responding to a question from a Tamil member of the audience about refugees:

We can’t even deal with the 2.5 million people in the city. I think it’s more important that we take care of the people now before we start bringing in more.

Outside City Hall, he had some more dubious shit to say:

Until we get our fiscal house in order (we can’t) welcome more people. Right now we’re not in any shape to welcome people... There’s 60,000 people trying to get into affordable housing. How about all these new people coming in? They’re going to be asking to get into affordable housing, too. So the waiting list now, could it go up to 200,000 people if we bring in a million people?

Look, we can debate the pros and cons of immigration another day. Instead, I want to draw your attention to this video of Ford running away like a punk from fellow mayoral candidate Rocco Rossi.

Dude is weak and stupid. Don’t vote for that guy.

I find mayoral races laughable. Immigration is a federal issue...a municipal mayor has no say in how many people decide to live in their city.
