It was only a matter of time. The show that has been described as Dickens like in its coverage of urban life will finally become a part of academia: HBO series The Wire will now be taught at Harvard University. While I'm not surprised that the show has received academic attention, its acceptance by the unversity body did happen pretty fast, considering that the series only ended 2 years ago. Usually history plays a large role in value determination but it looks like The Wire proved its significance right of the bat.
