'Whites only' basketball league?

This idea offends so many people on so many levels that I can't believe it will get anywhere:

A promoter says he's going to start up a whites-only professional basketball league with teams in 12 Southern cities.

And Don "Moose" Lewis says there's nothing hateful about the idea.

"I don't hate anyone of color," he told the Augusta Chronicle. "But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here's a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like."

Players would have to be "natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race."

Rick Chandler at NBC Sports' Out of Bounds blog says he "made a couple of calls to make sure this isn't some sort of prank, and sadly, it's indeed legit."

 

Sure this is all horribly racist... but from a basketball perspective, could you even assemble a team of decent, American white players..?

Keep in mind the league will only allow white Americans to join, disqualifying guys Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash (league MVPs from 2004-2007)... I mean, could an all white American team even compete against an all-white team of foreign players?

Here's a mock-up of an all-Caucasion team of foreign born players;

PG: Nash (CDN)

SG: Ginobli (ARG)

SF: Kirilenko (RUS) 

C: Nowitzki (GER)

PF: Gasol (ESP)

Pretty good... add Bargniani, Calderon, and Bogut off the bench, and you have one of the best offensive (albeit worst defensive) teams in the NBA.

Now what would an all white-American team look like?

PG: Hinrich

SG: J.J. Reddick (who supplanted Mike Miller as the best white American shooting guard in the league this season) 

SF: Dunleavy Jr.

C: Kaman

PF: David Lee

Bench: Kevin Love, Troy Murphy, 

Yikes... 

What is that, a 25-57 team at best? Does a single player play within 20 feet of the basket? Better yet, how many points could Dwight average against this team? 60? 65?

Anyway, deep down I hope this all-white league is a joke, but if it isn't, we may be witnessing Brian Cardinal's one chance to be a league MVP.
