That is not a typo as only 34 tickets were sold for the first 14 draws of round robin currently being held in South Korea. The event drew crowds so small that conversations between competitors could be heard from all corners of the 3,500-seat rink. Thousands of tickets were given away to schoolchildren brought in for class trips. The World Baseball Classic and Korean League soccer matches can partially explain the low turnout. Curling is a purely cultural thing...you either get it or you don't. Canadians and some european nations get it, and that's why they practically sell out the Pengrowth Saddledome and other hockey arenas for events like the Brier or the Scotties. Having the women's world championship in South Korea, even though I see that they were trying to break asian barriers, was just a poor choice.
